Netbackup 6.5 liveupdate using HTTP does not work either

Following the last post, I setup a web server on the Windows master server as the repository for the update to try to update another Windows client. Updated all settings on the client and master server. It still had the same issue of not able to find the files LiveUpdate is looking for at the address. If anyone out there has got Netbackup LiveUpdate working, please let me know how it is setup! For now, 6.5.1 will have to get there manually.

Update 1/17/2008

The Netbackup LiveUpdate 6.5.1 package isn't out yet, the current update release is only for manual installation. Set it up all you want, it won't work without this LiveUpdate package.

The problem you are having is that the LiveUpdate feature uses specific LiveUpdate formatted containers. These containers have not yet been released for 6.5.1, but should be in the next several days.

This will be made clearer in the documentation.

That was what I thought might be happening just from looking at the logs. Symantec support finally wrote back to me and then confirmed this as well. The documentation in this case has been poorly documented...

Support reply "Currently there hasn't been any updates released that can be distributed by live update. The normal patch install's cannot be used with live update. Testing is in the final phase but we don't have a date on the release. Once they have gone through and passed all testing they will be released to be used with Live Update."

just setup a web server. I am using iis 5.0. download and unzip these three files in the pub folder of your web server. create a policy and run it. :-)

I assumed while you were upgrading the client you pointed it to the web server that hosts the files. example http://server_name/share_name
